The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Sioux City and Northern Railroad Company.

Incorporated in 1887 under the laws of the state of Iowa, the company purposed to construct and operate a rail line from Sioux City northward into Minnesota. In 1890 the line from Sioux City (Iowa) to Garretson (S.D.), was placed in operation.
